ROADSHOW NEWS

30th to 31st August
The Shoreham Airshow
Saturday was delightfully sunny, dry and warm and attracted a good attendence from both visiting aeroplane owners and public alike. The show was opened by this incredible frenchman Christian Moullec with his flight of cranes.

The EU Directive petition was an enormous success, and we collected some 500 signatures for our DC-3 petition and also made seven new members; one for Arundel & SD, two for Horsham, one for Lancashire and two for Devon & Somerset.

Sadly, Sunday dawned with rain-laden skys and it rained heavily until about 8 o'clock, and then continued to drizzle. Despite the inclement elements, the public arrived bright and early and we collected another 180 signatures during the day. Do notice the antics of the Chinook in the background!

Wings and Wheels at  Dunsfold
Dunsfold was like the proverbial curate's egg. Good in parts. We awoke to gentle rain and drove to Dunsfold meeting Toby Micklethwaite, Surrey Committee Chairman before entering the airfield. Toby had most kindly brought a gazebo to provide some rain protection and this was needed throughout the morning. Despite this we continued to collect signatures for our DC-3 petition at a steady rate.

At 2 o'clock the rain stopped, clouds disappeared and the sun shone brightly.  It seemed that all the aircraft immediately took to the sky, and suddenly the place was full of people!

My caption for this photo is constipation cured! The Red Arrows were magnificant.

14th to 15th June 2008
The Sussex Country Fair at Parham
We had what I can only describe as an exciting time at this beautiful venu in the grounds of Parham House deer park.

Coming as it did just days after the NO vote in the Irish referendum, the British public were clearly concerned and in some cases actually angry that they had been cheated out of a British Referendum, and they wanted to express their opinion in our petition calling for a referendum. This is the first time that any of us had actually witnessed this public reaction.

Little did we know that just days later the British ratification document would receive Royal Assent and be ratified a month later. Why the haste Mr. Brown? Surely, you don't want to please Sarkosy that much?! Do you?
